My Philosophy

I’m a big advocate for right plant, right place. When you give plants the correct growing conditions they flourish and put on a beautiful show with minimal interference.

My aim is to promote gardening practices that respect and enhance the natural world and the creatures living in it. I believe in working with nature, not against it. This means:

  • Organic Gardening: No harmful chemicals, only natural fertilisers and pest control.
  • Biodiversity: Planting a variety of species to support local wildlife and pollinators.
  • Sustainability: Practices like composting, mulching and water conservation.

Join me in creating beautiful, sustainable gardens that bring joy and benefit wildlife.

Services

I offer many gardening services, mostly focusing on flower beds and borders.

Flower Bed Maintenance

Weeding

Removing unwanted vegetation to ensure your chosen plants have the available space, water and nutrients to thrive.

Dead-heading

Removing spent flowers to tidy up the plant's appearance and in some cases promote more flowers.

Plant Division

Most perennial plants benefit from division every two to three years to maintain health and vigour. Dividing perennials reduces the need to buy new plants, saving resources and supporting more sustainable gardening.

Plant installation and removal

Plant newly purchased plants or remove plants that are no longer wanted.

Mulching

Spreading a layer of mulch material (e.g compost, wood-chip) to suppress weeds, retain moisture and add nutrients to your border.

Lawn edging

Clip the lawn edge to stop grass growing into your flower beds and leaves a nice clean edge on your grass.

Rose pruning

Encourages a nice rounded shape and healthy growth with lots of air flow. This helps to prevent or reduce diseases.

Bulb planting

Plant bulbs such as daffodils, snow drops or tulips.

Small scale topiary

Clipping to shape small topiary shrubs and trees.

Planting advice

Choosing plants for your garden can be overwhelming due to all the factors that need to be considered (e.g garden aspect, soil, space available). I can advise on plants that would do well in your garden.

Soil testing

Testing soil pH and / or texture can help you determine what plans would best suit your garden beds.

Watering

Watering potted plants during prolonged warm periods, with little rainfall.

Kitchen gardens

I’ve been growing a range of annual flowers and vegetables for several years now. I can help you grow and care for your own too.
